I should be working on an essay due next week for my master’s program, but instead I’m signing my kid up for the SAT, answering Comcast’s demand that I get new digital receivers for every TV in my house, checking to make sure my dog isn’t on the sofa, and responding to comments on my blog.

Hi Nelson,

Thank you for asking. If you have x number of followers that you have cultivated and you lose your Twitter account, if you had it backed up, you could recreate your followers on a new account. The same is true for Facebook. All the contacts and content that you have acquired has value. If your Facebook account is lost (and this happens for no apparent reason for some individuals), the backup provides a way to recreate your account with the prior information without having to start over again from scratch.

I’m testing backupify right now which will back up all your properties. I’ve been working to find an easy solution for individuals to use the free social media option; however, it requires the use of Google apps which not everyone will be comfortable doing. Stay tuned for an update on this!

I backed up my facebook profile. It was easy. I would hate to lose what I’ve accomplished on facebook. I’d also hate to lose the friends I’ve made and the knowledge I’ve acquired.
