Entrepreneurial Ingenuity – The Bendy Straw Story

So whom can we thank for giving us the glorious bendy straw?  His name is Joseph B. Friedman and in the 1920′s he came up with the idea when he saw his daughter, Judith, struggling to drink her milkshake out of a straight paper straw.  So he inserted a screw into the straw, and wrapped dental floss around the paper and screw threads, creating ridges.  one he removed the screw, the straw easily bent over the glass, making little Judith, and the rest of us, happy, strain-free drinkers.  We are forever indebted, Mr. Friedman.

Now that’s a genius idea.  What’s yours?
